The LSDL information:
• WHO THROWS FIRST? ALL games are started by throwing for the bull to determine who throws first. The visiting team’s player ALWAYS goes first for the Bull.
• CAPTAINS. It is the responsibility of Captains to manage their teams and liaise with their home venues and the opposing teams. For instance, if the visitors have any form of problem at a venue, the correct procedure would be to talk to the home Captain and see if the situation can be amicably resolved. If there is a problem with lighting or such that takes a little longer, the home Captain should liaise with the venue to find a solution.
• FURTHERED. Most issues that have ever arisen could be sorted out far better with communication at the time than they could be sorted by voicing issues after the fact. All issues should be attempted to be solved by the Captains at the time, and only when this is not possible are issues raised with the committee.
• BARS. Bars are not required to provide food, rounds of drinks, or offer special league prices. If they wish to do so, the league will of course be grateful, and it is the duty of Team Captains to liaise with the bars on this.
• SCORESHEETS. All scoresheets must be submitted before 8pm on Wednesdays, the day after the match.Any team failing to submit their scoresheet ON TIME, on three occasions will lose one match point. Scoresheets can be submitted in the following ways:
o delivered to D’Pelican Inn on Sukhumvit soi 22
o faxed to the fax number on the scoresheet
o scanned / photographed and emailed to the email address on the scoresheet
• STARTING TIME AND COMPLETION OF GAMES . Games start at 8 o’clock. Lee-way is granted until half-past-eight, but if no-one has arrived or been in contact by then, the singles games may be claimed. If this continues until quarter-to-nine, then the whole match is forfeit. This applies regardless of whether a home team is awaiting visitors, or the visitors are awaiting the home team. Again, flexibility is encouraged, so the playing order can be altered if both Captains agree. If a team is not going to arrive by eight-thirty then the opponents must be notified, REASON: Communication and understanding of any problem avoids conflict. Showing up after 8 Pm with no prior call atomically forfeits any warm up. Even a short delay multiplied out over all of the legs played can result in a substantial amount of time wasted waiting.
As many venues may wish or need to close by midnight depending upon enforcement, the following are suggestions for speeding up game play: Doubles matches may be played as 501, 601 or 701.This should be decided by both captains before the match starts, or before the doubles starts, certainly before a game starts. When a leg arrives at both players aiming for double-one (“madhouse”), once the player throwing has completed his turn, each player will have a maximum of three sets (nine darts) at the double. If the leg is not won in this time, it is decided by a one-dart nearest the bull, and the winner will be credited with a close as if the double one had been achieved.Use of this should be agreed by captains in advance.
All games must be completed, even if time is running out.In an emergency therefore, remaining legs may be reduced to 101, or the Mickey Mouse played without 15, 16, 17, and doubles. In the worst case scenario of imminent closure, captains may agree to any reasonable method of allocating points, including playing nearest the bull to decide legs.
• PLAYER ETIQUETTE. There have been breaches of player etiquette, but everyone really should know how to behave. Treat other darters at the oche as well as people in attendance with the same courtesy and respect that you yourself expect. Common sense and cool heads dealing with any issues that may arise always result in far more positive outcomes for all concerned.
The LSDL does not have specific guidelines outlining acceptable or unacceptable behavior during a match. Nor is there any intention of drafting any in the future. Our guideline is simple - common sense. Blatant unsportsmanlike displays of rudeness, insults, racist remarks or actions that cause ill feeling, argument or worse are totally unacceptable in the LSDL. Any player unable of acting in a civil manner during a match is not welcome in the LSDL. Such unfortunate incidences reported to the committee will be dealt with by a committee vote on whether an offender will be evicted from the LSDL and deemed an ineligible player for any team in the LSDL. The committee vote is final. The committee may decide to issue one warning depending on the severity of the incidence. Any team attempting to use an evicted, ineligible player will result in forfeit of that match.
This is certainly not a pleasant issue and sadly there have been incidences of such in this current season. Not your common occurrences of disagreement that are resolved by rational, sane people. But situations to the extent that an entire team no longer wants to play against such a team with a blatant unruly, unsportsmanlike player. Again, such individuals are not welcome in the LSDL and will most definitely be evicted from our league when identified, Period. We're all out for a fun night of darts, socializing with old friends, meeting new ones, a few drinks and an overall great time. Your committee damn well intends to do our utmost to insure that this is not jeopardized.
• CHANGING TEAMS .A player may switch teams once and only once during a season. Captains gaining a player from another team must notify Keiran our stats man, in person, phone, email or annotate the player changing on your score sheet. Playing a casual game for another team is not permitted. If you play for one team and play one Mickey Mouse game for another team you are then a member of the later team. This is your one allowed team move for the season. Teams violating this rule will have two match points deducted. If you are not absolutely sure, captains should contact Keiran to see if a player from another team is eligible to move to your team.
Player Move from One Team to Another Per Season - RULE AMENDED
Moving from one team to another during one season has been allowed but never encouraged. The original reason for this being allowed was if a player had a falling out with a player or players or the venue - he would then be allowed to move to another team to play out the season. It was never intended for venues with more than one team to have a pool of players to move about as needed. Although still not encouraged - a player may make one team move per season BUT NOT to another team in the same home venue.
MORE IMPORTANT: After the vote has been passed and season XVII begins, NO players from the LSDL PREMIER LEAGUE may join the LSDL FUN LEAGUE until they become eligible to apply again which will not be until Season XVIII. Any Fun League player who feels he is good enough or has progressed in his skill level to join a Premier League team is allowed to and encouraged to do so.
MORE IMPORTANT STILL: LSDL FUN LEAGUE Captains MUST make certain that they are not accepting ineligible players onto their teams. Check first by either contacting the committee or checking the statistics websites online or by doing both.
• STANDARDS. Venues are expected to have conditions according to normal darts standards. However, as the league is generally a small-bar league, a certain amount of lee-way is expected, especially with regards to bathroom access etc.We all know that bar owners are running a business, but bars with entrances, to kitchens and toilets next to the board, please, please try to explain to staff, that for one night a week, have a bit of respect for YOUR, and visiting teams throwers.
LSDL GOAL
• OUR GOALS. - A Premier League for the more skillful and serious darts players in Bangkok offering the best challenge possible as well as continuing to grow and expand.
The goal of the LSDL Fun League is to keep as even a playing field of teams as is humanly possible. Successfully accomplishing this will not only keep our current players happy but equally important attract new players and teams. Last season, Season XVI is considered by most to have come closest to this goal. There was never a night when one could be sure of any one particular teams' win over another.
We encourage teams to improve their level of play and win matches -it is a competitive sport we play. However keep in mind that if you put together a team of strong enough players and become so dominant to be considered unbeatable by most of the other teams of the fun league - you may be voted into the primer league.
The LSDL was divided into two separate leagues for this purpose. The more skillful players offered a challenging league - the less skilled and up and coming players a level playing field opportunity. We do realize that there are some players capable of premier league level that are not so serious. If you are one of these players, you are of course welcome in the fun league but you and the captain of your team need to be more concerned of the addition players invited onto your team. Bottom line - Sportsmanship & common sense. If it comes to the attention of the majority of the fun league players that you have a stacked team - it is likely that the captains will call for a league vote on whether or not your team will be invited back into the fun league next season.
Teams Moving Up And Down between Leagues
Moving up or down will be decided by ballot vote - one vote per team - of each respective league. Any team wishing to move up or down will submit a request to that league with their team name and host venue along with the captain's name and names of the team members. The team captains will get the opinions of his or her team members for their ballot vote on whether or not to accept any team into their league.
This policy will also apply to new teams wishing to join the LSDL. New teams will no longer be required to initially join the lower league if they feel that they have a team capable of competing in the upper league. They may apply directly to the upper league. Same criteria apply for all new teams applying - team name and host venue along with the captain's name and names of the team members.
Requests to move up or down a league should be submitted no later than the end of the season current. Team captains will be notified by the committee of teams applying to join their league. They will then meet with their teams as soon as possible to decide their team vote on entry of existing league teams or teams initially applying to join their league. Again, a team's vote will represent not only the captain's personal vote but that of the team as a whole.
The LSDL is and has always been an invitational darts league. Arbitrary decision on moving teams up or down in the past did not always represent the wishes of the majority of our league members. The policy of moving up or down a league will now be a representative majority vote of all members within each respective league.
The LSDL – The Score sheet & Game types explained!
There are many ways to play and many rules and systems that people around the planet use to regulate their darts leagues and Events, some more internationally recognized than others. We, The LSDL have our own particular system that suits our particular situation here in Thailand and is a system that has not changed too much since the beginning of the League nearly a decade ago.
SINGLES: Three games, 501, Best of three legs, Shoot bull to start. Double out.
Score sheet key for Singles only: * = Optional, LD = Least Darts Thrown in one singles leg. The Pale Red Strip in the singles area of the new score sheet is where you would enter your “Least Darts Thrown” statistics for each singles game if you want to, remember this is an optional statistic. Singles MUST be played as 501, Singles MUST be played as “Best of Three Legs”
DOUBLES: Three games, 601 or 701, Best of three legs or five legs, Shoot bull to start. Double out.
Score sheet key for Doubles only: ** = Optional. You can play the doubles games as 601 or 701. You can play the Doubles games as “Best of Three” or “Best of Five. The Pale Green Strip on the new score sheet in the doubles section would be used in a “Best of Five legs” doubles game or alternatively in a “Best of three legs” doubles game, if you want to enter an ”LD“ statistic for that particular “Best of Three legs” doubles game.
IMPORTANT: It’s up to team captains how they want to play the doubles, however please remember a 701, Best of 5 legs will take more time than a 601, Best of 3 legs.Bars are being closed down anytime after midnight onwards at the moment again and all games have to be completed before the host bar closes down for the night.
MICKEY MOUSE WITH POINTS : Shoot bull to start. Minimum 3 players but more may play. This does not mean that the team with more players shoots more. The game is still played in rotation - player on team A shoots followed by player on team B. Games scores are not needed on the score sheet. Mickey Mouse game is for one point on the score sheet. A two-hundred point lead any time during the game is taken as a victory.
The object of the game is to get three closes (15 to 20, D, T, B) OR a two-hundred point lead on any closed number(s) left unclosed by the opposing team. All D & T (doubles and triples) on the board count towards the D & T count needing three each. A triple in any object number (15 - 20) may be counted as three singles as well a double for two singles. But three singles in an object number may not be counted as a triple nor two singles as a double. Red Bull or double bull may be counted as two bulls, a double or 50 points as applicable.
D & T in the object numbers (15 to 20) may count in that number for a needed single(s) or double or triple count OR the point value may be split. Example - Team A has two single twenties and two triples scored. Team A player hits a triple twenty. Team A has the option of taking one triple OR one single and 40 points scored. Points are calculated in a cumulative manner.
The Mickey Mouse does not count as a leg. It does count as one of ten available points through the night.
CORRECT RECORDING OF TONS: When you have 180s or high closes (100 or over) please try to squeeze all those details into the box (above captain’s signature) on the scoresheet. Exact Tons may be recorded with an “X”, however over-a-tons must be marked with the number, for example “109” not “X”
